Also known as Kits, the neighbourhood is named for Squamish chief August Jack Khatsahlano. Kits is located in the west side of Vancouver along the south shore of English Bay. It is bordered by Burrard Street to the east, Alma Street to the west, and 16th Avenue to the south.
Known for its gorgeous beaches, great shopping, choice dining options, and convenient location, the city’s newcomers have long considered it among Vancouver’s most popular destinations. International students enjoy its proximity to the University of BC, and it’s only a bike ride, transit, or nice walk over the Burrard Street Bridge to downtown. Kitsilano offers a lively atmosphere, given the regular stream of young people, dog lovers, and families out on the streets enjoying an active, seaside lifestyle.
Housing options include detached homes, duplexes, townhouses, condos, and quite a good supply of rental suites as well. Note that home prices in this area are at the higher end of the Kits–to–Commercial spectrum.
